Anybody ever toss trying to replace stock taillights with LED trailer lights? Kinda had an idea that might help keep them more protected then the stock lights, or is it just a dumb idea? I tried to do some searches but didn't net anything...

theres one guy one here, @Hacksaw54, that mounted led trailer lights behind his stock lenses. I've seen other guys remove the stock light all together and mount a trailer light in the remaining hole.

Hmm maybe he'll chime in. Was just trying to do something cool that isn't done much or at all.

I just used a bench grinder to remove the excess plastic and used a hot glue gun to attach them. Hard wired them and sealed the socket hole to keep crap out.
Also I used a electronic flasher so the lights blink normal.

Did you build the light panel itself, or but them someplace? That's pretty awesome!!

Sorry meant to edit the last post and managed to apperantly delete it...

ive seen several guys pull the whole tail light, weld in a patch panel, then flush mount round LED trailer lights

That's what I thought you used! @Hacksaw54

Warrpath4x4, that's kinda the idea I had but to just screw it in the original 4 screw holes.
