So getting ready to put a winch on my trailer, need to decide if I just mount it to the deck or put it on a receiver and make it removable.whats everyone’s thoughts and why?

Is your trailer storage secure? Mounting the winch in a tongue box is another option and keeps it out of the weather.

I have mounted some in a tongue box. Pretty easy to do and keeps em out of the weather. Usually do a solar trickle charger on the top. Battery and winch all right there in a locked box
Mine is in a hitch reciever because I also use it in the shop to pull non running vehicles in. And I do not have to leave it outside.
