Hey I am wiring my trailer and I got a wiring kit . It came with lights all the stuff for the 4 flat wire connection. well I bought the connector for my Gmc the 7 way plug since it has electric brakes . but it seems the kit wiring differs from the cover on my truck that says what wire is what , well the plug seems to have all the connections but yellow? wtf i hav aux left, blue ,red, and black i need help anyone got a link to a good tech writeup on wiring trailers. also i hear that the ball serves as a groun and trailer must be connected is this true? also help wite elec brake wiring please thanks

Ground

I can't help with the 7 plug stuff since I only have six. You should be able to buy a 7 to 4 adapter plug at WallyWorld or a trailer place.
NOTE: Do not rely on the trailer hitch being on the ball for a reliable ground - it won't! Ground both the tow vehicle and the trailer for reliability.

ok another question one wire is for battery well my trailer has no battery , it has breakaway switch but no battery ,any one know of place to find good diagram for the brakes end of it i am completely rewiring it

A lot of times, if you go up to your local U-haul and talk to the hitch install department, you can get a wiring diagram that fits your needs.

Walmart sells a trick trailer socket for mounting on the tow rig. It has a 7 prong outlet AND a 4 prong outlet built into the same connector. Very slick setup. With it you don't have to worry about losing the 7-to-4 pin adapter that you otherwise need for towing smaller trailers. :cool1:
