So now that I have a tow rig I've been looking to get a trailer in the next few months. I'd rather buy used because it should be cheaper but am not opposed to waiting and buying a new one. What are your guys opinions? I found this tilt deck one that is in the right price range and needs a little work but not totally sold on it yet. It's been sitting for about 3 months and I've talked to the owner about it but idk

Plan on buying brakes and tires unless it's almost new. Every used trailer I bought was that way

I'd look at a few new ones as well just to get a price reference
 
I've been paying attention to the ratings, I think I need atleast 7k right? That equip one is an Ibeam axle
 
Imo, I'd buy one rated around 10k so you're not running the trailer at max capacity when loaded. If I understand it correctly, the trailer rating is total so you need to take in to account the weight of the trailer itself (7k total - 2k trailer = 5k payload).

Edit: how much does your truck weigh?
 
and tilt deck nice till you need a winch mounted on the tounge to help load . then cable has harder time going up/over and not tilting the bed or eating the cable .

Exactly.

He's pushing 5K+ I'm sure so he's likely over the 7K.

I don't have any issues with my tilt deck, however I have a roller fairlead deck mounted for my 8274 to feed through. In all honesty the tilt deck is nice for some cars but It's more of a hassle when you need to drive over the fenders on our wide trucks.
 
My K5 came in at just under 6,000lbs before my cage. I would recommend a 10k lbs trailer as well. I tow short distances with a 7k trailer, and it does not like it LOL. I also have a 14k trailer that tows way better.
 
I love the PJ buggy hauler I bought last May. It's big enough to fit my K5 between the wheel wells (it has drive over fenders anyway) and its 102 wide, but not a deckover. It tows like a boss too. 10k rating, slide out ramps, winch plate in the front, stabilizer jacks on the side. I love it. IMO, after looking and finding junk in the 3k range, i decided to go and spend the 5k on the new one and call it over with.
 
Not exactly sure how much it weights. And a deck over would be desirable, I don't really like the tires hanging off the edge ofor the trailer. So atleast a 10k trailer

It weighs 6k. There was a thread here for awhile 58-62 was the average on these trucks with a 60/14 on 37-40

10k should work fine
 
Finally picked up a trailer for the foolsize. It's by top hat trailers. 20', 102" wide 10k brakes on both axles. Freakin stoked. The blazer has been hammered this year and with new tires I don't want to waste them driving 3+hrs on the road to get to the trail.
