Put in a 28K B&M today. Bybassed the radiator cooler/ warmer completely. Here are some numbers before the install...

Unloaded, 6-7% grade for 5 miles (Black Canyon City to Sunset Point)
RPMs 2600
65 MPH
3rd gear on Th400
EGT 1050
Boost 6 psi
Coolant 200
Oil temp 210
Tranny temp 205, sender is in the pressure port.

Will add more, post-cooler install, next run...

Basically, I just wanted to start a baseline, that said...

I didn't have a tranny temp gage while driving the same stretch of highway, loaded, pulling my Blazer, but here's some numbers for that. I'll guarantee that alot of the heat came from the tranny. Also had a questionable clutch fan, and a dinky Stant thermostat at the time. Put in a Hayden clutch and a Stant 6.5 thermostat *195(oops- my original post said AC Delco t-stat- that's the next move) since these numbers...

RPMs 2800
25 MPH
1st gear on Th400
EGT 1050
Boost 6 psi
Coolant 230
Oil temp 240
Tranny temp ???

Interesting, different stretch of road, mild 2-3% grades for 50 miles, pulling 10,200 lbs.

RPMs 2800
45-55 MPH
2nd, 2nd-over and 3rd, depending
EGT 1000-1050
Boost 6-7 psi
Coolant 215 at the hottest
Oil temp 220
Tranny temp 180-ish, (VDO gage has a small 150-200 range)

Might need to install the Kennedy dual t-stat setup.

Thats a bit odd, seems kinda in the high temp range. then again, you are towing some massive weight.

I'd check the condition of the radiator, it might be a little clogged or something. Also try some water wetter. Stuff works good.

(BTW, aint those RPMS just a tad bit on the high side?)

Radiator is ok. Pulled it last month, had it sealed and pressure tested. Need more coolant flow I think.

RPMs are good, top of the HP curve (according to Banks anyway) If my thinking is right (who knows /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif) I'm thinking 2800 for HP juice, 2000 for torque and fuel mileage.

Unless I already have the upgraded water pump- I looked at how much was pumping out of my heater hose... it is ALOT.

I wish I could find a picture of a stock 6.2 water pipe.

Pretty good ballpark Fred. Max fuel mileage unloaded would be around 1800 rpm though. Max hp would be between 2800 and 3600 rpm (governed upper limit)
