Well its been a little over a month sence I put my re-built th305 into my K5. Well Friday I was at my buddies shop and when I started up my K5 it started to make a clicking noise. The faster I went the louder it got, so I went back to my friends shop and we looked at it and turned the flywheel and low and be hold I found a crack. We figured this is the noise I been hearing.

Well today I started at 1130 and got done around 7 pm. know this includes dropping my tranny and tcase, pulling of the flex plate, running to the parts store and then putting it all back together.

Well with further inspection of the flex plat there is a lot of cracks.
Here are some pics for you guys.

that's actually very common problem, Ive broke flexplates on almost every auto equipped vehicle i've owned. The last one I broke was last year, an 87 chev 3/4 ton longbed 4x4, I ripped it right in two peices, was able to get it home due to it wedging on itself and turning the torque converter /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif, it sucked getting it apart, couldn't seperate the tranny from the motor, cuz the flex plate was wedged on itself /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Too bad about that trip to the parts store, I have one you could've had for free!

last year i went through 4 of these breaking. finally
found out the problem was i had a crack in my tranny bellhousing.
