My sons 86k5 with a 700r4 is losing fluid. The transfer case output is damp with fluid but I dont this is the source He's losing a quart every 300 miles or so. This is just back and forth to high school and around town, nothing over about 50 miles an hour. Any help would be appreciated.

Transmission and t-case fluid levels are seperate.

Unless the transmission is grossly overfull and the seal on the front of the t-case is bad could the tranny leak into the t-case. If it doesn't have an external leak at the tranny, my only guess would be that the tranny cooler or lines are leaking up front. Perhaps the fluid is leaking into the cooler in the radiator. That's a pretty big leak to not see any drips or other problems.
