Hello friends!
i need somebody answer to me some simply questions.
I,ve bought a 6.2 Diesel k5 a few days ago,and i want to change the tranny fluid and the filter. The questions:
what fluid capacity has the TH700R4?(For buy enough fluid...)
The transfer case has an independient maintenance?SAE90?
Other question, the FWD low range ,can be only conected with the stoped engine?I tryed to conect it with the engine runing,in P and N position, and it was impossible.
Thanks.

If you are just dropping the tranny pan, i think its 4-5 qts. The transfer case holds about 3 qts of ATF if its a NP208 or NP241, and 80w90 if its a nP205, and 10w30 if its an NP203. Usually to engage low range you need to have it in N, but the engine can be on.

Bone dry about 10 to 12 quarts. With just a filter change, about 5 to 6 quarts. The torque convertor holds abunch along with the tranny cooler. On the average filter/fluid change 5 to 6 quarts. What type transfer case? More than likely you have a NP208 which takes ATF also. NP 203 takes 10W40, NP 205 takes 75W80 or 90. Even though the 208 uses ATF, you will have to pull the plug on it to change the fluid in it. They are seperate. You should be able to get into 4 lo with the tranny in park. Try it on a level surface with the brkes off. If you try it on a slope, be careful, from Hi to Lo, you'll hit neutral which means Park won't hold the vehicle in place.
