This weekend I dropped my th400 pan and hammered out the dents and plated the bottom and installed new filter and re-installed. Get to shop this morning and that round magnet is on the bench. Apparently I forgot to put it back in. Really hate to have to drop exhaust, pan, fluid, etc again to put it back in. Do yoy guys think if I superglued on of these super earth magnets to outside of pan it would work the same as the one inside, until I have a need to drop pan again?

I don't see why not but with it being the tranny, I wouldn't want to mess around. Drop it and do it again imo.

I have stuck a large speaker magnet on a gas tank in one of my old trucks that had a lot of silty rust in the tank, and it kept clogging gas filters--after an old fleet mechanic told me about that trick,I never had to change the filter again...I dont see why the same thing wouldn't work on a tranny pan....

I have torn apart many junk automatics for the scrap aluminum, its not too often I see much for steel particles in them, usually I see mostly brass filings and clutch plate material--many trannys never had a magnet in the pan,so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over not having one really...I'd stick a magnet to the pan,and then remember to re-install it the next time you change the fluid...
