Tranny pan????

Probably a stupid question...but...I going to throw on a new tranny pan, filter, etc.. and I am wondering the best way to get the old pan off without making a big mess. Also...where..on the pan itself, is a good location for a temp sending unit bung? Thanks guys!

I used a big bucket and started loosening the all the bolts but left the back ones in. Then I slowly dropped the front of the pan and let everything drain into the bucket. Then when the majority was out, I was able to easily remove the 3 bolts left and drop the pan and drain the little that was left over.
