Tranny problem in park

Hey guys, so I got back from a wheeling adventure at about 0600hrs this morning and found that my 86 blazer now won't stay in park heres a quick description:

Vehicle will roll in park, makes kind of a clicking noise.
Transmission Oil pan is dented right next to where the linkage goes into the transmission.
It seems like the vehicle wont fully engage into park, (my amateur opinion)

So basically I think it could be one of two (perhaps both?) things:

Dented oil pan won't let linkage move fully into park (fix=bfh and some elbow grease)
Parking Pawl is broken (fix=go to tranny shop as I lack necessary facilities to fix this on my own)

Just wanted to get some opinions on what some of the more experienced members here think that it could be.

Transmission oil pan was dented too far in, this stopped the shifter linkage in the oil pan from cycling all the way into park. Lesson learned, need skid plates.

rolling in park and clicking sounds like you broke the parking prawl(spelling?). There's a spring with an aluminum bearing type thing under it that puts the pressure on the parking gear. That little aluminum piece likes to break. I don't have pictures on this computer but I can find them when I get home tonight. My trans did the same thing. Luckily I had a spare tranny sitting around I pulled the part off. If you drop your pan you'll probably be able to see the broken piece. Take it out and to a tranny shop. I'm sure they can order the new part. I can't seem to find them online anywhere. But if you can find them online let me know, I need another one too.
 
I addition to checking the rod which applies the pawl, you may want to check the nut that holds the internal shift quadrant in place on the selector shaft to make sure it hasn't backed off.
