What year, what transmission?
If it's a 700R4, it could be the TV cable adjustment.
If it's an earlier th350 then check the vacuum lines to the modulator.
If those adjustmens don't fix it then your tranny is on it's way out.

its a 91 k5. i looked at the tv cable so pushed the gas pedal and the tv cable goes out all way with the throttle so how do you adjust them.

The govenor may be bad. It is located under a round metal cap on the rear drivers side of the trans. Pry off the cap, the governor will pull right out. look at the plastic gear it is most likely strpped. If so they are cheap to replace.

thunder that is on a 700r. if so that would be great. that is the only problem with tranny, it goes into drive reverse and all the other gearswith no problem.

First thing to do it check the fluid level. After that my guesses are broken governor gear or stuck throttle valve. Does the throttle position have much or any effect on the rpm it shifts at?

took off cap to governer and its fine. where do i find the throttle valve at dont know much about that sorry.
