tranny question

My dad wants to start driving his 87 R.cab 1/2 ton again. It's an auto that has a fuel injected 350. The engine and tranny need work. We'll probably pull the tranny first.

It's outside of town right now so I need some info. Did GM continue with the 700r4 for this model and year?
