I've got a 78 K10 with the 350/t350/203 combo with 3.73's. I would like to get better mileage on the highways. I plan on taking this truck outside of my normal mudding areas. I've been thinking of changing the tranny for a 700r4, but I'm carb'd and I know the 700r4 is comp controlled.

What would I have to do to make this work? Could I just shift the x-member back or do I have make a new one? What else would I have to plan for?

throttle valve cable needs to be added to carb, electric hookup for torque converter lockup, driveshaft mods, crossmember mods.

if you want to keep your 203, you need to do something to the output shaft of the 700 to make it look like your 350. i hear its like 7/8 shorter. advanced adapters makes a shaft too, which would be easy to replace while the 700 is being built.

im pretty sure the adapter makes up the difference between the 700 and 350 trannies

someone else here will know for sure,

good luck

The TH700R4 is not comp. controlled but the electronic version of it is ( 4L60E ) . Around 1992 is when the electronic version started. Might be easier than you think.
