This guy messaged my tonight on yahoo. I started to talk to him about my truck. I made a comment how I sure don't need to fry another tranny. He replies to me "well put a stage 2 in your tranny and you won't have any more problems with it... I am running 44's in an 87 half ton with stock motor and tranny".... my question is WTF is a two stage... never heard of this before..... thanks.......

I said back well it's a 700R4 and I will add a tranny cooler and get better gearing which should help some and he said "it still won't help the tranny, you have to upgrade the internal pump. that's what goes out in those all the time... then it dries up your 2nd and 3rd gears... I did it on both my 87 and my 92 Z"..........

Stage 2 refers to a shift kit that's set on "stun".

Stage 3 is when it's set to "kill" and barks the tires every time the tranny shifts, regardless of throttle input. Stage 2 just makes you think you've been hit from behind when it shifts.

They theoretically decrease wear on the clutches, but they also beat the crap out of the gears and apply bands.

Ah ok, I had one in my tranny from this place in Idaho (wasn't sure of the name of it because I never called it a two stage before). Was put in end of July and by end of August my tranny was trashed (not to mention I had whip lash from the worst shifting ever).... I think I will not go that route again.....
