What is the difference between the 700R4 the TH400 and the TH350? which engine setups work best with each of the tranny's? 700R4 sounds like the best tranny to me simply because it has the highest number, but anyone got a better answer than that? my blazer orignally had a 700R4 but it got swapped for a TH350, on a 305 motor. we gotta get the tranny rebuilt tommorow, just through a Jasper 305 in and the tranny went out on me. thanks

The TH700 is a 4 speed overdrive tranny. The TH350 is a 3 speed with no overdrive for light/medium duty purposes. The TH400 is a 3 speed with no overdrive for heavy duty needs.

The 700r4 is a 4 speed trans. It is a good trans for stock applications. If youre gonna run a high powered motor or large tires, it will need to have some work done to it to make it hold up. The th350 is a good 3 speed trans that will take a fair amount of beating, but for the best strength, the th400 is the answer. It takes more power to turn the th400, but its hard to break.
