Tranny Question

The tranny blew in my 88 sub with a 700R4 4wd
Are there any other units besides a direct replacement that will bolt in. Maybe something a little stronger? I have been told that there are 4l60 and 4l80 trans. but I don't know if they will fit. I don't want to go to a three speed since I do alot of highway driving. Thanks

4L60 is a 700r4, by a different name..
4L80 will not bolt right in and go.. would take some decent amount of work.. try checking out bowtie overdrives for built 700r4's..

Hes right... 4l60 is pretty much the same strength. And by the time you go out and find/buy a 4l80e (expensive) and the wiring harness to run the computer tranny (expensive) you probably could've already purchased a new one from bowtie overdrive, or even a GM replacement. I got a 700r4 rebuilt up here in Michigan for $990 full R&R with a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty (full R&R included in the warranty if anything was to go wrong).
