in my truck i have a TH400 with a NP208 transfer case. i want to convert to a manual tranny. which tranny do you guys reccomend? and should i keep that transfer case or put in a NP205? what bell housing will i need? what else might need to be changed??
thanks,
matt

I think most guys will direct you to a SM465/NP205 swap. It's a pretty good combo, very strong and the granny low gear makes up for the NP205's comparatively high ratio. You will need a flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, clutch linkage (and a slave cylinder, etc. if you go hydro clutch), clutch pedal assembly, cross-member and driveshafts.

This thread dealt with a 700R4, but has some good information in it:
