I took my truck on the interstate for the first time today, and it got my concerned, my temp gauge pegged as well as my Oil Press with the motor SCREAMING at 65mph, I have a TH350 (I believe) and I'd like to drop a 5-spd manual into the truck, I'm more a manual trans guy anyway, and I know I've discussed making this a trail rig as well as my DD, but I won't be doing any rock crawling in it so I'm not to worried bout it to be honest.

I'd like to know what Manual transmissions (5-speeds) that will bolt right up to my built 350 V8 I'm dropping into it this summer along with an applicable clutch assembly, will a hydro clutch system work on my truck? not sure how they work exactly, so either way any advice is appreciated, and I'm pretty dead set on this swap.

and out of curiosity, my wife brought the question up of "Did they make these trucks with manuals in this generation" and I don't even know, I haven't seen/heard of one.

thanks in advance guys.

They could be had stock with the SM465 4 speed (no OD) throughout their entire production run. They were never offered with an OD 5 speed. There were a very limited number that came with an OD 4 speed (A833) but not very durable, and poor gearing make it not worth even looking at.

For an OD 5 speed do a search for NV4500. I say search because it has come up a ton lately, so there is definitely a lot of recent info just waiting to be read.
