Tranny swap.

First of all this looks like a great forum with some great people. I looked for a search option but could not find one so I will ask my question here.

I have a 84 K20 w/ a TH350 behind a 350ci. This tranny needs to be replaced. I have a 700R4 from my trashed K5. I was wondering if these could be swapped. I was specifically wondering what needs to be modified or adapted between the two vehicles. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

The 700r4 is longer... You'll have to swap or move your crossmember.. Thus, driveshafts will be different length too...

What transfer case is on each?

You sure its a TH350? Doesn't seem right for the year unless swapped.

BIGBLAZE433, I am from the Milford area.

ryoken, the k5 has the 700R4 and the K20 has the TH350.

u2slow, it looks like a TH350. I am not sure if it was swapped in or not. I got this truck from a local highway department at a cheap price, so who knows what they did to it.

In '82 the TH700, TH350, and TH400 were all offered in a 4x4 with an NP208. They all used the same length front driveshafts. I'd gather the rear must be the same also.
