I need to replace my transmission. What are my options?

I currently have an '85 350/700r4/208/10b. Please help!!

What would I need to do to my driveshafts if I put in a np205? I am still running 10 bolts

it would be good to know how you use your rig and whether or not you are building it up for offroad use or not. All of the common GM transmissions have certain advantages/strengths... which one is best for you depends entirely on how you plan to use your rig. For all out beef the th400 is clearly the best... for a lower first gear ratio and overdrive the 700 is better. The th350 is simpler to mate to a np205 and is hella common/cheap and similar in strength to a 700... just without an OD.

give us more info and we can give much better advice..

This truck is my DD (when she runs). She does see some light offroad stuff on week ends (mainly forest trails with a little bit of mud thrown in for good measure). Eventually, I would like to make her into a dedicated heavy-duty trail rig, but that is not going to happen anytime soon.

I guess right know I just need something reliable.

well, replacing it with a built 700R4 would be the easiest... since that is what your rig is already set up for now. I have a Raptor 700. Any good trans shop should be able to build ya a reliable 700.
