tranny/t-case problem

i got a ? for all of ya gear heads, my buddy's truck just stop driving the other day and won't move at all if u get underneath of it and put it into gear u can hear some grinding and **** we cant tell if its from the tranny or t-case then when u try and put it back into park it makes the grinding/clicking noise like when ur driving and throw it into park. but if u put it in neutral and wait for the spinning and grinding to stop it slips right into park, so we think now that its just the t-case so we dono if the linkage just messed up in the t-case or if its shot, if anyone could give us a few pointers to lead us in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated thanks

t case shifter slipping into neutral?

Put the tcase out of neutral into a gear then start it up. When its in neutral it will grind hard when trying to go back into park.
