tranny trouble?

I have a 1980 k5 that struggles to engage into drive or reverse when in the park position. I can press on the gas, the engine revs but the truck won't move. It is not until a few tries that the truck begins to slowly move. Is this a sign of trans trouble?

check the fluid, it may be way low.

Yep, check your level and condition of the oil. When did it last have a filter change?
