Tranny trouble!

Funny title but true... Well im having some issues deciding what i should do... Ive found a 90 burb in great shape, no dents/rust, clean interior, engine runs great but the 700r4 has bucked the kicket. The guys only wanting $800 for its but im having difficulty deciding which trans to put in if I decide to buy it. Should i go the easy route and just replace with a 700r4 or do a th350 conversion? Ive done some research and both will cost around the same but im not going to do much lift/ tires or any have 4 wheelin. Im mainly going to use it for a boat hauler/ camping truck. Any ideas?

With the scenario you outlined I would go with the 700R4 for its overdrive.

I just bought a 1988 Burb for $800 with a bad trans, pulled it and rebuilt it last week and drove it around this weekend. It has 31's and 3.42 gears, I would not have wanted to go with a 350 due to the changes required and lack of overdrive, and the low first gear in the 700 really helps get this big beast up and going.
