Recently discovered a possible tranny problem. Truck is a 85 k5 with a 305/700r4. Tranny was supposedly rebuild by the previous owner. Whenever I shift to reverse, it seems to have to rev up really high to start moving, but once it get moving it moves easily. Sometimes it will just sit there and not move if trying to back up some kind of incline. Any ideas?

Fluid level was fine. If I come up there, it wouldn't be in the blazer, I finally got it to run today, only to discover there was no coolant, and no recovery tank cap. Then the guy at advance gave me the wrong one. Plus it isn't registered or insured, so no street driving yet. The weird thing is it seems fine in all foward gears, I've only noticed the problem in reverse

Its all good my S10 Shifts great but is lacking power when you stab the accel :(:doah: dunno what it is yet. You would think a v8 s10 would haul....

Tranny still must've been warm the first time I checked it, this morning it was low. I'll add some and see how it reacts. Hopefully I didn't damage anything permanently

Pretty common in my experience that older GM transmissions tended to have a "weak" reverse. Not sure if it was design or what, but all forward gears can work fine, but reverse doesn't work quite right. 700 haven't really seen this problem, but TH350/400, lots of times.

Also can't recall that being a harbinger of doom for forward gears...run it till it quits.

How long was th etruck sitting when you first noticed this? If it had been a couple weeks then the fluid would have drained outta the torque converter and will take some running to get it back in. Keep checking the fluid level.
