To make a long story short :

Me : German (located in Munich)
The car : US (located near Stockholm)
don´t ask why (ever had a summer-house and need a car for cruising )

The car is a 1977 K5 Cheyenne and should get it´s tranny restored.
Found some numbers while lying under it

Passenger side : 15 GM 6273212
and
driver side : 6271549 which is a
ADAPTER/465-205 - T/C ADAPTER - CH465 - 205 I suppose

The tranny comes with a new process gear model 205, Ratio 1,96
Assem No 3987901

The Rear i right back (another reasons why I´m sure it´s a 465 and no 420)

So far so good - BUT !!

10 splines ? or not
and what clutch do we need ?

The swedish-mechanic thought it would be a 12"" with 10 splines and 16 bolt  :screwy:

Could anybody PLEASE help me to identify my tranny and clutch-type so
I can order parts ?

ThanX

Not sure about the clutch size but all 465s are 10 spline input so you will need a 10 spline clutch.

I seem to remember most guys running an 11" clutch but I am not 100% certain.

Thanks so far.....

confusing title - I admitt :o - so sorry for that.

with a 350cui V8 engine there should not be so many
alternatives if we´re talking about clutches for 10 splines.

What makes me wonder : What the hell did he mean by "16 bolts" :eek1:

Any ideas

Sounds like a 465/205 setup. You'll need a 10 spline clutch setup. I believe the factory clutch was 11", but some flywheels mayhave the surface to accept the 12" clutch disc.

I looked on the Luk website http://lukprogold.com and the part # it gives for your truck is 04-902. This is a 12" clutch. It says the clutch disc measures 11 7/8" so you'd have to check if your flywheel will accept that size.
