I ran far away from aamco and got a new repair quote. the tranny if probably fine and won't need repair.. here is the problem

no, 90 was the diagnoses quote, but it was only 70.. they put some tracer fluid that went through the tranny and glowed (glew?) where it leaked and they will take the 70 off the work i get done.
 
sounds like they are much more inline with current prices. cool that the diagnosed the problem be fore quoting you $2800

so glad to hear that, i will have service the tranny also and install a nice cooler. I can service the tranny myself but they will check it out for any problems while it's opem... any advice on coolers? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif
 
I went on ebay and got a big stacked cooler a while ago for $15. It seems to work great. My tranny temp. always stays down where it should be now. That quote makes a lot more sense. Glad to see you shopped around. I always get a pain when I hear someone say "Aamco said it would cost..." But that's just my opinion. I noticed that the Aamco bill said something about burnt fluid. Did this shop mention anything about it?
