I was driving home from work. I was doign about 50mph. And my transmssion seemed like it slipped out of gear as I slowed down and my engine reved up. I pulled off to the side of the road. I wanted to be safe o I had the truck towed to the shop. Im not sure whats up with it. i didnt want to casue any more damage to it thats why I had it towed.
SO Im kinda curious to know what this might mean to me???

i had my tranny rebuilt for 800 and i had them beef it up but i pulled it out, for them to pull it, would have been another 300, I dont know what they did to beef it up but i told them what i was putting it in, came with a 3yr 36,000 warranty. its been a year havnt had a problem. o and i dropped it off one morning picked it up the next afternoon. but when we take vehicles in to get the trans done, usually there 3 to 5 days, but it also depends if they are rebuilding your transmission, or just putting in a different already rebuilt one, the ppl who did mine rebuilt the one i had

Bowtie Overdrives is what seems to be most popular on this site.

I've seen the best luck with GM remanufactured transmissions.

IME, any of the other chains or local shops WILL **** it up and you'll be lucky to have a trans last 50K. Every local shop will claim they know how to do it and will do it for cheap, IME you get what you pay for with these.

X2, my Astro had the trans rebuilt less than 10k ago, according to the PO receipts, and it has already done what Jimmy is describing. Get the quality built unit from BTO or GM, don't risk it on smaller shops, even if it does save you some money.

Thank you for all of the information. Im going to wait and see what my mechanic says tomorrow. As for now I think I will cry myself to sleep.

x2 ive done it three times all too familiar! these guys are right and my research shows that bow tie is the best if you can get it. if i ever got a new tranny id go through them. unless you know of a local machine shop that you trust be careful. i got stuck pretty good on my last rebuild with a nice price tag of 3k:doah: wish i knew then what i know now. if you can, tear the thing out yourself and take it too them. my shop dropped mine and then pawned it off to a completely separate machine shop costing more money and what not.
