Ok so im new to this forum but ive heard good things and im excited to be a new member!!

so im trying to figure out what combo i need im swapping a 90 chevy 4x4 set up into my 76 scottsdale 4x4 im using the 350 tbi and the 700r4 but the t case is drivers side front shaft and i need pass side i also have an older 4 speed manuel bolted to a 205 id like to use this 205 on the 700r4 how can i make this work ? thanks for the help.:dunno:

The 700R4 is very similar to the TH350 in regards to bolting a transfer case to it, they both use the same 4-bolt pattern and they're both 27 spline, the only hang-up is that the 700R4 output is a couple inches too long to use TH350 parts. So, if the trans is being rebuilt, you can replace the output shaft with a shorter one, or if you don't want to take it apart, you can install a spacer to make up for the extra length.

From there, you need a TH350/NP205 adapter and a drive sleeve. Because the trans is 27 spline and your NP205 will be 10 spline, you need an aftermarket drive sleeve that's 27 spline on one side and 10 spline on the other.

We have all of those parts brand new, to adapt your 10 spline 205 on to your 700R4 is just a touch over $500 in parts, and you'll still need a shifter.

You can save yourself a good portion of that if you find the 205, adapter and drive sleeve that were attached to a TH350.

Welcome to CK5! :D

You have some options with your drivetrain swap, but I suggest hunting around on your local Craigslist and search for a NP241C from a 89-91 K5 or Subs. The 205 is a strong case, but has a lame low range of 1.96:1. The 241 has a much better low range. Unless you have serious aspirations to do a Doubler later on, I wouldn't waste your time on the 205. Just my 2 pennies. The 241 should bolt right up to your 700R4. And so should a NP208.

You'll learn quickly that utilizing the Search function on CK5 will employ hours of useful information for you. Your thread will probably get 1000 views and only a handful of responses because your question has been covered 1000 times and worded 100 different ways. That shouldn't deter you from asking questions on here, but you should always Search first! :waytogo:

So with either of those i wont need the extra adapters ?
And if i keep the stock column shifter for the 350 turbo that came out of it will it go into all gears except 1st or totally not work?
Also i have the original 350 turbo and 203 mated together that came out of the truck will that adapter work with the 700 and 205 ? thanks in advance!!!

I would also be looking for a 241 out of a newer truck. Much better low range I don't think the 205 is really a much stronger case.

Sure its housing is tough and can be beat on but the 241 can take some serious abuse itself. Skid plate it though if your gonna be draggin your belly.

The 241 and a 700 gives you a great crawl ratio dang close to what I have with a turbo 350 and a doubler

We're advising you on 2 different scenarios here. Chris is describing what it takes to bolt up your 205, and I am talking about you using a 208 or 241 instead. We're both assuming that you are using your 700R4 that you mentioned early on. The 700R4/NP205 scenario requires some special parts, according to Chris. The 700R4/NP208 or 241 does NOT require a different adapter than you already should have on the 700. Even though the t -case that's hooked the 700 is a drivers drop; the adapters are the same. You just need the same t-case that drops on the passenger side. For that, see my first response.

To answer your 2nd question: your shifter will work fine, but you'll want to look at LMC Truck or eBay for a "shift indicator" that is for a 4-speed auto. Just so you know what gear you're in. They're cheap and easy to install.

3rd question: no, your TH350/203 adapter will not work for the 700.

If your close to me, I have a 205 that has been modified for twin sticks and its been fully gone thrugh that you can get, its setup for a th350 or a np465, I have both inputs and both adapters, but you would only need the 350 stuff. If your far away shipping would probably bring the suck though.

Awesome thanks for all the good info ive found a couple 241 t cases on craigslist, think im gonna go that route.
