Pomai;
in front of radiator
I have the same set up as Scott,
Factory clutch Fan,,factory Oil Cooler
on a 87 5,7 4X4,
Its Overkill but I am Secure,,
with a puller fan Hayden (mainly for back up)
on back of radiator,
and Hayden fan relay Temp adjustable controler,
Rarely comes on,,but in a emergency it would help cool all,,
Plus a aftermarket (for a 1 ton suburban)
>>.Aluminum Radiator ,,with "Internal" >>7 plate internal Cooler,
hooked in line with the Hayden Cooler,,,
mounted on Passenger side,
>>>>>Stock Brass radiator has 3 plates on most, applications
I rarely have any problemns with airflow,,
and A/C ,,
in a hostile heatwave,or everyday driving!
I had to remove the staples in the 2-piece Fan shrouud Housing,
to install, and used self tapping sheet metal screws to clip it togeather,
and Water Pump,fan,hose replacement is a snap,
My old Stock Radiator before,, had less internal cooler plates,,
and caused 2 700 R4 failures pulling a heavy boat + Loaded trailor,
note;
remember if you are "Missing" the Air Flow "Lower Deflector"
mounted under the core support ,,
it will run hotter by several degrees,,,,"not causing" a "Vacumn" behind it,,
while sitting still or moving,,!
helps to remove heat as well,from the back of Shrourd..!
(And a good firewall Cowl to Hood Seal,,,
, is Important for the A/C to work at its best!)
And yes you can mount it some other place,
but it will not be as "Well Protected",,
as It would be behind the Grille,,," Stock or Custom"!
