I have a 1974 Suburban K20, factory SM465/203 combo. I’m swapping in a later model 465/205 combo from an 86 K30. Curious if my stock crossmember will work with the later model 205? Truck is stuffed in my side yard and won’t be pulled out til I have all the parts together to put her together. I was going to try and find stock driveshafts for the combo but I’m opting to tow the truck to Wenco and have them build a custom set for me, once the trans is swapped in, so just gotta figure out the crossmember now :)

If my factory crossmember is no good, are they any recommended replacements? Trucks gonna be mainly for play, but I intend to make it mostly an Offroad trail truck so low profile is better.

Would love some tips. Thanks guys!

Use the 86 crossmember. They are in fact different and dont interchange but if you keep late model crossmember with late model trans to tcase adapter you'll be ok.

You can use your original one and just build up a riser brick block spacer whatever to do the trick. I used 2x3 or 2x4 rectangle tubing. I dont remember which anymore.

Right on, thanks! I’ll have to look for one or figure mine out, the crossmember was retained by the seller.
