Trans Help

I need help. I have a 79 K5 with 350 auto. It a 3 speed auto, I dont know what the numbers are. Well question is when it shifts its like its slipping, but once it engages it stops slipping. And I have to put it into first when I stop.

Is it full of fluid? If it is, its only a matter of time before you lose all your forward gears.

It was at about 1/2 full when I checked. That is not what I wanted to hear.

a fluid and filter change might buy u some time

As already stated, I would do the fluid/filter chage ASAP. Add a bottle of Lucas Trans Restore as well; it may help or may not do a thing but it won't hurt.

Worst case scenario is that TH350 or TH400 are not to bad to overhaul or replace.
