Is the top line the sending line for the cooler lines on a 700R4? I forget, and I have to install my external tranny filter tomorrow. Thanks

Harley

P.S. I did a quick search and couldn't find it.

on my '88 K5 the top line coming out of my radiator is the return line. what you can do to double check is disconnect one of the lines from the radiator and then start the truck and put it in drive for about 3 seconds and put it back in park and shut if off. then look to see if the tranny fluid came out of the radiator or the fluid line. if it came out of the radiator it's the return line, and of course if it came out of the tubing, it's the line that feeds the radiator with fluid. hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

so , does the top line out of the radiator go to the top
line on the tranny?

i have been wondering if i hooked mine up right after i put my tranny back in /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Let me rephrase a little. Is the top line out of the tranny case the sending line? Or is it the bottom line? Thanks

I THINK the bottom line out of the tranny is the sending line.

But, now that you know the information about what line is which on the radiator, you could always follow one of the lines back - do that just to be sure.
