I got a 94 GMC Jimmy S15 4 X 4 I unbolted the pan itself but can’t get it clear of the crossmember that holds the tranny mount and the exhaust(on the other side of the pan). I’ve tried positioning the pan every which way with no luck. I just talked to a buddy that said you have to tilt the tranny up in order to get enough clearance to get the pan out. Is that the way I should go about it? Most of the online instruction I have looked at mentions you may have to move a heat shield or gear selector cable but nothing regarding this. Can someone give me some insight on this? Maybe even manual instruction if possible? Thanks in advance!

Usually here we remove the crossmember. Becareful, isn't a 4l60E? If it is I have seen lots of people break the solenoids at the back of the valvebody.

It could be that the trans mount is bad and sagging not allowing you to drop the pan without having to support and remove the mount first.

On my 89 4.3 I had to unbolt the transmission mount and raise the back of the transmission up about an inch or two to get the pan off.

Thanks

Appreciate the help fellas. Finshed the job up last night....
