on my auto tranny i cant find what the wires hooks up to.? it runs up the back of the motor then im lost. my trucks wiring is hacked up, so if anybody can point me in the right direction ive got a crappy manual that just confuses me. thanks cody
 
i believe it's a TH700-R4 and im sorry, i can't help you there...i know a little about the turbo400 and 350's(3speeds) but i can try to get you some more info tomm from my dads stealership(the techs help me all the time)
 
Even though I cant see the pic the only wires i know of on a 700-R4 is the ones that go to the distributor for the converter lock up
 
i dunno if im doing the picture right? that guy said he couldnt see my pic dont know if he ment the picture just sucks of if he literally couldnt see the pic tried to attach it again.
 
All the wires contriol is the Torque converter lockup. I dont know where they go but you drive it without them. But if you spend a lot of time on the highway you might want to get it figured out.
 
**** i drove it on the highway once dang thing didnt want to do more than 65 70 just figured it was slow cause the gearing 35s and motor was crappy.that have anything to do with it? PO did the swap so dont know if was all hooked up or not. just did a body swap and didnt remember unhooking them from anything so thats why im lost, thanks
 
Well depends on the gearing. What gears do you have. I had 3.73s in mine with a 700 and it didn't want to go into overdrive then i put 4.56s in and it was perfect then i got tired of auto and put a sm465/205 combo back in and i am back with 3.73s and i love it. But i drove mine without lockup for about 3 years and didn't have any problems.
 
not sure on gearing. plan on doing a 3/4 ton swap in the future. i bought it cheap drove it around town and played in it for the most part. it sat for awhile. just started fixing it. the old tub was shot. thought it was bad but didnt realize how bad it was. so i swapped tubs. its a 1983 k5 how many differnt gear ratios come in k5s? stock that is? i dont know to much about the newer trucks ive always been a fan of the 60s 70s stuff ive got a 63 C-10 that im restoring. but i always love the k5s so i found one cheap and so I bought it.
 
The gears I know of Are 3.08/3.73/4.10/4.56 But there might be more. You should post some Pics. These things are adicting. Its like Crack:eek1:
