im going to be doing a transmission swap on my 90 k5 this weekend, what should i look out for when i do this swap? it is a 700r4 thats going in that is from a 1989 jimmy (full size). will i need any special tools? i have a tranny jack so that will help but i just want to know out of experiance what i should be looking for when i do it. thanks

just now finished mine, what a PAIN IN THE A$$ !!!

nothing really "special" take things apart, replace, put back together and prepare for a mess, no matter how hard you try to keep things clean.

LONG EXTENSIONS and a small impact makes it really easy though to get all the bolts on the bellhousing :D

won't have a speedometer and no VSS. The 90 is electric speedo and the 89 is not.

mine, along with about every friggin muscle in my body is about dead right now, just did this project by myself today, WHAT FUN !!!

Just make sure you TV cable is set up properly or you will fry the new trans. Otherwise it's just a matter of unbolt the old and bolt in the new. Also when doing the swap make sure to not let you dizzy hit the firewall when the engine tilts.

thanks for all the advice guys, and my tv cable is set up properly, its just that the previous owner was in OD and went up a big hill stressing it out and burnin $#!T up
