I am going to go look at a manual trans and transfer case from a "mid to late 70's 1 ton truck"

can I get some help on how to ID them for when I head over there?

It sounds like the t-case might be cast iron, that help any?

please reply ASAP , I want to go look at it this weekend

Thanks all

Pretty durable combination based upon site member feedback. Although the coupler between the transmission and xfer case may require replacement if it's worn.

will it be a 465 for sure? any way to make sure?

If it's a manual it's a 465 no other tranny was offered in the 60's 70's or 80's for the one ton trucks.
On top of that the 1 ton 205 will have the 1350 yoke, stronger than the 1310 of course and ready for a heavy duty driveshaft if it's where you are heading.

not quite true... a few years you could get an SM420......
it just has the lower first gear. not a bad thing for some of us.
