Hello guys,

I'm from The Netherlands and there is not much "know-how" over here when it comes too lifted 4x4 trucks.:truck:
So I'm very glad I found the CK5 site...a lot off good tech info.
I own a '91 Chevy Blazer K5 which is lifted 6" front / 8" rear & 2" body lift on 35" M/T.
It also has a 1350 CV driveshaft (with slip-yoke).
Now the problem...
Because I measured the driveshaft about 1,5" too short I think I destroyed the bearings off the TC.:doah:
I have a small amount off clearance of the slip-yoke what causes vibrations while driving.
Can anybody tell me which (code/type) bearings and/or parts I need too fix this????
And where can I best buy these parts.. ( that ships abroad )
It's a NP241 TC.
I would like too order the parts before I take the TC apart because off the long shipping time for parts.

Thanks! :waytogo:

Welcome to CK5!

If you take your t-case apart and remove the bearings, you will find numbers on the bearings. Most parts houses can find bearings that way.

Otherwise someone else here will know where to find t-case parts...

Too steep a drive shaft angle can cause vibrations and problems with the tcase.Might want to make sure its good if you haven't already.

I would check locally first bearings are universal parts.
I never had a problem finding them anywhere in the world , the trick is to have the part number.
I Willy and get that for you.

Welcome to the site. I have friends in Emmeloord. Are you anywhere close to them?

With that much lift on your truck, I would check out the angle as has been suggested already.

Thanks for all your reply's!

The angle of the driveshaft isn't problem.
This CV shaft can handle up to 35 degrees and it's no way near that.
I bought it from Tom Wood's driveshaft by the way.
Nice guy with very good feedback.
When I just installed the shaft there was no problem.
After a few weaks it began to shack again like it did with the orginale driveshaft.
When I checked the CV shaft I noticed that the slip yoke was sticking about 1,5" out of the TC nose cone ( past the rubber dust booth).
So I added about 1,5" too the shaft ( by a special driveshaft company)
Now it much better but still not like it was when I just mounted the shaft and there is still a little clearence when I push and pull the shaft up and down.

Long story.....

I hoped someone had this problem before and could tell the bearing codes/numbers so I can try too find these before I take the TC apart because it's my daily driver.

I'll try add a picture next time.

Ohhh bytheway bradshawtech

Emmeloord is about a hour drive from my place...
But than again The Netherlands is a very small country compared to the USA and I life in the middle....so every direction is about a hour or max. 2 hours drive! :haha:

My friends company builds vegetable processing and handling machinery. The name of the company is D.T. Dijkstra.

Another good friend in Emmeloord is named Rick Elschot. I was there about 6 years ago. My wife and I rode the train from Amsterdam to a small town near to Emmeloord and took a taxi on over to Emmeloord.

Alright, what was your impresion off Amsterdam.......??

I'm saving some money and hope to go to "the states" next year! :waytogo:

Is there someone who knows the bearing types/codes of the TC?

in the cone of the 241 there is a bearing that is thin metal that is pressed in to the very end of the cone. the driveshaft over time may have caused wear on this bearing, and you are noticing it now that the driveshaft is breaking in and getting used.
maybe a replacement of this little bearing will help out.

Here is some info on that unit.

And here are a couple of sites that list part prices.

Amsterdam was okay to me. A little overwhelming as I did not do my homework on the city before we got there. I was more focused on getting to the train without getting killed. Ha.

Okay so if I look at the picture of Fordum I should replace nr. 2 and 6.
I will also replace the oil seal ( 1 ) when I'm at it.

Can you replace these parts if you only remove the cone...???
For instance....
I see a snap ring (5) on the output shaft that retains bearing (6).
Is this bearing pressed in part 8 or in the cone...???

Thanks for the help guys!

(p.s. Bradshawtech didn't you have a nice "cup a coffee" in one off the coffeeshop's.....:D )

Not ALL the people in amsterdam are "using" offcourse
All lot of people who never been to Holland also think that we're all still walking on wooden shoe's..... :D

I'm going to pull the transcase apart this weekend and see what's broken.
Already send a mail to Dave from Drivetrain but no reaction yet....:dunno:
