will a NP 208 crossmember work with a NP 205? Im going to be getting a 205 to replace my 208 and im wondering will the 208's crossmember work and if not which one do I need?

Depends which 205 you get. There are essentially two styles of crossmember based on the adapter you are using. (tall-early, short-late) The later "humped" style crossmember ('85-later) and the earlier flat style, which is all previous years.
