Transfer case Crossmember Question

Hi all,

I have a 75 K5 with TH350 - NP203 and I notice that my crossmember mount for the transfer case is being held on my a small "broken" bolt in the middle. I am sure the guy I bought the thing off hacked this together. The bolts to the fram are good but the secureness ends there...

Does anyone know where I can get the new bushings and hardware? Non of the Local AutoParts shops have a clue about 4X4 stuff and if it's not in their system they wont help.

Thanks

Has the adaptor been cut off? If the adaptor and the crossmember are both stock, they should be able to look up the stock trans mount bushings. The bolts you could use std grade 8 bolts from the hardware store, just find the size and length required after going through the crossmember and the metal sleeve in the bushing, to still have complete thread engagement into the adaptor. Mine uses two 1/2" bolts about 3" long, but that is not the exact size unless that's an extremely luck guess. The stock ones have a tapered head for easier starting, but as long as you can get them started without crossthreading, std grade 8 bolts are fine.

Pictures would help a lot.

Its funny u ask, I just replaced my 3 days ago, AutoZone has em, duralast part # 2107, there like 5.99 a piece, thats for the upper mount, lower mount is part # 2108

Autozone calls that part the Transmission Mount, is that why I am having such a hard time finding it? I figured it would be the Transfer case mount...

My other problem is that I think that the bolt that was previously used is broken off inside the Transfer case, looks like I will be extracting this weekend.

Thanks for the part number.

Went in there last night and told the manager I needed a GM rag joint on my way back to the Dorman isle, even set my old one on his counter for him. He instantly responded that they don't carry anything like that, I'd probably "have to go to GM if I could even get them anymore." I returned to his counter a few seconds later with 4 GM and 4 smaller rag joints for around $6 each. "You sure you don't carry a really common wear item used on many American full-sized vehicles for at least 20 years?" They were at eye level in the Help! section...

That same manager once told me they didn't carry PCV hose. When I pulled "Positive Crankcase Vent" hose off the shelf, in 3 or 4 different sizes, he said "Ya, but you need PCV hose."

I have nothing useful to add to this thread :)

Yea, I miss the days when the folks at the Auto Parts store actually knew something about Auto Parts. Now it seems like they just hire anyone who can lookup a part in the computer.

Yea I had a chick at Oreilly's ask me 3 or 4 times if my truck was 4 wheel drive after I told her I needed the "transfer case" adapter seal, STUPID!!!!!
