I have a 91 K5 with a stock drive line. It has a 7 inch lift with a 1 inch transfer case drop. Since dropping the transfer case it leaks a ton of trany fluid. Its not leaking from the transfer case so I'm guessing it must be a seal where the trany connects to the transfer case. If there is a seal can it be changed without dropping the trany?

tranny output no seal.

tcase adaptor to tranny big rubber oring. can be swaped for new.

tcase adaptor to tcase big round gasket . if clocking ring used = 2 gaskets now. ( note : some guys use rtv. but the gasket is cheep and works good. )

input to tcase = seal to keep the 2 fluids from mixing .

To answer the question, you don't need to drop the trans. Only the t-case and the adapter if needed. Most of the time they leak between the adapter and t-case. Pull the t-case, clean both surfaces, install new gasket or black RTV (light coating), and reinstall. Don't forget to drain the t-case before removal too, or you'll have a big puddle to clean up. Also, when you unbolt the t-case from the adapter, some fluid will leak out there too so have a drain pan ready.

Great, thanks for the explanation it was a little easier to understand. Lol
