take off the filler bolt and stick your finger in there and it should be up to the bottom of the hole as for what goes in it it depends on what you got.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What fumes said...and it takes ATF.

I think I'm OK... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Just in case you don't know, the fill hole is found on the rear of the transfer case, near the top. The drain plug is towards the bottom. Since it's obviously been awhile since the ATF has been checked, I would recommend taking an hour and swapping out the fluid.

roger that. i always assumed that the same fluid circulated the xfer case and tranny.
how much fluid would ya figure? any special additives?

thanks much for all the prompt relplies, btw. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Actually the transfer case and the tranny have their own supply of ATF- one batch of fluid does not circulate through two systems.

Last time I serviced my 208 it took around 5 1/2 litres to refill. I've never used any additives but my 84 is the family wagon and doesn't see any hardcore 4x4ing, so plain ol' ATF is good enough for me.
