I've come across this advertizement for transfer cases:

http://greenbay.craigslist.org/pts/5052329197.html

Transfer cases for Chevy - $50

Two transfer cases $50 each. Pick up in Green Bay. Call or email 7am-9pm.

I think I'm seeing 2 NP241 cases. The one in the foreground, with the breather coming out the top, appears to be passenger drop. My current parts hunt is for a 32-spline 208 or a 241 with either input shaft.

When I requested more information, he sent me these pictures:

"One is a passenger side and one is a driver side."

"The one on the left is the passenger side"

So what is he selling? He says one came out of a 1991 3/4-ton pickup, and that one came out of a 1996 Suburban. Perhaps he has his years swapped (1991 Suburban and 1996 pickup would yield this combination, right?).

The casting number corresponds to a driver-side case, but I think he sent me the same picture twice (with different filters).

24X on both for sure, definitely not 208's.

I don't have any help with casting numbers.

But, to me, in the picture with both cases, the cleaner one on the right looks like a passenger drop case. The picture is blurry and far away, but the drain/fill appear to make sense with a passenger drop case. The fill/drain being further apart makes sense too, because 88-98 (left hand drop) t-cases are clocked up quite a bit more than the straight axle cases (right hand drop).

And probably wouldn't be too hard for the guy to see two photos next to each other in his photo gallery that look different like that and think that they are of the two different cases, even though one might have set off the flash and the other didn't (or something like that).

32 spline 208's and 241's aren't super easy to come by, I'd buy every one we could get for $50/ea.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in the case if it's passenger-side. But driver-side cases don't interest me at this point.

He says that both cases are 27-spline. I have a 32-spline driver-side 241, so I have an input shaft for swapping.

What year is your 32 spline 241? There is a gear cut change in 94, so you'd need a 32 spline version that is older than that.

Agree that the right looks passenger drop. Was just looking at one of mine yesterday, the VSS in the pic is in the correct location on the right one for passenger drop, and the other is in same location, just other side, so I would expect drivers drop.

I thought that '94 was old style and new style didn't start until '95. :dunno:

The P.O. either said '93 or '94 for my NV4500/NP241 combination.

Awesome. That's what I wanted to know.
