ok i have a stock 91 k5 silverado which im second owner(my grandfather was previous owner). Truck's had great maintenance EXCEPT i think 4 wheel drive has only been engaged maybe twice ever(once was just to disable the antilock brakes). My grandfather has alway kept the fluids changed(TC, tranny, motor, axles, etc.).

how often should i throw it in 4high just to keep stuff in good running order or is there a need?

Sometimes the front driveshaft will help you out by rotating from residual drag ( therefore letting the shaft/sproket in the case turn and splash some oil ) but do not count on that.
I use a rule of around once a month to drive down a dirt road for just a half mile , or so , in 4WD ( hubs locked optional ) just to let the gears/chain spin and sling oil all over to keep the internals coated as best they can.

Good advice, you don't want your internals rusting inside.
