While out in Michigan, I discovered that my transfer case torque rod that bolts to the bellhousing snapped the bolt off in the bellhousing. Right now, I am going wheeling this weekend. I was planning on fabbing up an L bracket that would go from where the torque rod bolted straight to the frame nearest the transfer case. This would only be a temporary fix, but do you guys think it would hurt anything if I wheeled it like this for a weekend?

you'd be better off leaving it be..

your sure to break something hardmounting over to the frame.. it's fixed, unlike your other 3 mounting points to the frame, motor mounts and trans mount, which have some movement.....

Some years of GM trucks had no brace at all,(I think only with the SM465's?)--the only time that proved to be an issue was when someone decided to get the truck airborne while off roading, the automatic tranny aluminum cases can snap in half near the tailshaft end..

If you made a bracket like the older trucks with NP-205's and NP-203's had, you'd have to use some type of rubber cushions between the brace and frame to allow some flex,or else risk cracking the tranny case (most likely the weakest peice)..

I've ran mine for ten years without it. I forgot it wasn't there. Oops.
