Screw the dealers. Most parts counters are lazy, haven't been much for brand loyalty in my experience.
Anyways, try this:
http://gmpartswiki.com/query
Query string: 52r
Book type: Parts Catalogs
Single Book: September 1990 parts and illustration 52R.
Looks like scans of individual pages, not the whole thing, but MAYBE you could try 4L80E or adapter, or trans, t-case, something under querry to find a page relating to that o-ring.
My other idea is to call some hydraulic shops around you, and if they don't have a large stock of o-rings, they can probably tell you where they got them, who will. There are also plenty of online catalogs of o-rings, diameter and cross-section are what are needed to ID the right one. Word of caution here, it appears that some fuel injectors use a "non-standard" o-ring, so it's not as easy to find, although there are companies that also list the "non-standard" o-ring profiles.
