A friend of mine is giving me a 208 transfer case FREE:D .My question is will it bolt up to my 89 K5 blazer?I obviously have the 700R4 trans.I figure it will bolt up but what all is involved? The 208 came out of a 1986 truck.

The 89 should have a 241. Why would you want to swap from a 241 to a 208? Unless the 241 is toast, I'd keep it. But it will bolt up, shifters are different and probably the torque rod may need some modifications.

Should be a straight bolt in. I have an 89 241 case in my 86 K-5.

did you have to change anything on the '86 chassis to make the '89 241 work?

Nope, the case was a perfect bolt-in. The crossmember, and transfer case support both fit exactly like they did on the 208. Heck, I didn't even have to adjust the shift linkage....

You do know like ryan22re said.... the 241 is a better case than the 208 ever thought about being. Just to let you know.

I agree.....the 241 has a better low range, has an oil pump mechanism instead of a slinger, and you can get a SYE for a 241 (which is why I swapped in one in place of my 208....

Now we would be having a different conversion if your friend gave you a free 205......

Does he have anything else worth-while he is parting with?:D
