Hey guys, i'm a newbie here. I just picked up an 85 K5 blazer yesterday. I used to have an 87 a few years back, and wanted another. There is a good chance i won't be doing much off roading in it, just kind of a toy hauler and what not. The transfer case needs to be rebuilt/replaced. The blazer has an automatic trans, so i'm assuming that it's the NP208 transfer case. From what i can tell, you guys have made it seem like its not uber difficult to rebuild one. I am fairly mechanically inclined, so i am considering tackling this.

basically the problem is that when it stop quickly the case slips into neutral, if i switch it down to 4L and back to 2H i can drive off. From what i have searched, it is the shift forks, or the pads on them. with a rebuild kit will i be good to go or will i need to pick up some other things as well.

Welcome !!!
Before ya start tearing it apart check for a broken or worn transfer case mount, or try adjusting the linkage for the transfer case.

i will look into that. i can tell you that the shifter in the cab didn't move at all when it would slip, i don't know if that means anything :)

Thanks guys
