I'm finally getting around to rebuilding a 241 I've had about 8 yrs. Mech speedo 89.

The range fork I took out is stamped steel. I found a replacement that is cast like the mode fork. Is there any beneficial difference between the two?

Input shaft and range sleeve damage is apparent, other than that and the range fork, the rest of it is pristine. No cracks, chips, scratches, discoloration, etc.

I did all bearings, seals, chain, etc. as well as a range fork about 6 yrs prior to the incident that caused removal of this one. I found a serviceable replacement I've been using since, but it has developed leaks at the f/r seals.

No sle because mech speedo and I don't wheel that hard.

I would think that the cast fork is stiffer than the stamped steel.
