Which kind and how to apply. I have the NP 241 transfer case apart and cleaned on both sides. Should it go together tacky or completely dry before bolting down and torquing? Put some on both sides of the case half or just one? When i took it apart, the prior rebuild had it all over the place on the inside. Im trying to avoid any leaking as i don't want to have to unbolt it again....EVER! Thank you for your help!

The one minute or 90 minute right stuff?
Im having the SYE kit put in this week, mine had blue threadlock on the trans to Tranfer case as well.
No need for anti seize on any of the bolts?
Thanks

I used black rtv on one side. Let it sit for 15-20mins. Bolted it together. No issues. I always use blue lock tite on the trans to transfer case bolts.

Had my 241 out two times before I went with anaerobic sealer for the third try. For some reason I could not get RTV to work. Not like RTV is complicated to use, but anaerobic worked where the RTV didn't.

Run a thread chaser through the threads and make sure it's clean in there. Oil in the threads can push out and ruin your gasket job. Here's how I do it, FWIW (probably not much): skim coat both sides with my finger or a plastic spreader, so everything is covered, but there's no excess. Then assemble with bolts loose, basically stop tightening when the silicone moves. Then the next day put final torque on the bolts and fill with fluid.

The advantage to Right Stuff is you can put fluid in almost immediately, but I assume you'll be sealing, then installing, then filling, so the timing might not matter. The drawback to Right Stuff (other than price and you might only get one use out of the tube) is that it's a pain to get apart again. I think with a diff cover you wouldn't even have to keep the bolts.

Excellent write up thanks I will use your advice
Thanks
I’m liking the right stuff but is it like crazy glue where u literally have one minute to apply and assemble
I’ll be using it between transfer case and transmission it’ll take me a few minutes to apply then get under the truck and get bolted in to place. I’m doing in my garage truck is on all four tires no room to raise it so a bit cramped. Might take 5 min plus to apply to TC then actually get under lift into place and bolt up

Thanks for all the tips it went well. nice and dry.
been driving around in front wheel drive after installing the 241 Back in waiting for the rear drive shaft not a drip from TC yet. I used the 90min right stuff grey.
my TC is 4* down and rear axle is 4* up with a 4* shim so I bought 6* does that sound right .
Did the diesel K5 axle have a different perch angle than stock gas K5? Would it be set up parallell 0*
I will remeasure tomorrow, before i put in New Driveshaft
